Company history
Today's NEUMEIER GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 1973. After a short time, Rudolf and Margarete Neumeier expanded the original furnishing wholesale business with their own small workshops - a sewing workshop for the production of lampshades, curtains and cushions, an electrical workshop for installing lamps and a small carpentry shop. A planning department for interior design was added in the 1980s. In 1985, Rudolf Neumeier finally erected what is now the company building in Holzkirchen near Munich, which – for the standards at the time – was an enormous building area of around 3,500 m², which was initially used primarily as a furniture store.
A decisive step in the company's history was the opening of the first themed hotel in Europa-Park, Rust in 1994: the El Andaluz. It bears Neumeier's signature on all design levels. In the years that followed, the largest hotel resort in Germany was built in Europa-Park under Neumeier's leadership. All houses in the 4* and 4*superior category tell their own theme. They receive numerous awards, such as "Hotel Property of the Year" and are groundbreaking for the entire hotel industry in Germany and beyond.
The second family generation has been responsible since 2008: Martin Neumeier takes over the majority of the company shares and manages the operational business with around 15 employees. With a keen sense for timeless and authentic design, he continues the line of the house. Production facilities in Germany and abroad, as well as long-term cooperation partners enable a comprehensive and at the same time individual range of services. From 2014, Martin Neumeier gradually expands its own production at the Holzkirchen site and expands the free storage space in the company building for this purpose. A new carpentry, upholstery and metal workshop is built. The offices are renovated and expanded.
During these years, a very good cooperation developed with the catering kitchen planner Sebastian Scholz. Through mutual recommendation, numerous projects are realized together, including several Bite Delite branches, the Bonjour Munich and the Riva in Schwabing. In 2019, Sebastian Scholz and Martin Neumeier therefore founded the joint company SCHOLZ & NEUMEIER Gastronomietechnik GmbH and set up offices, warehouses and workshops at NEUMEIER in Holzkirchen, directly in the offices of the NEUMEIER planning department. The concept of catering kitchen planning and interior design with our own workshops - everything from a single source and without the interfaces that are critical for this area - established itself very successfully in a very short time. Within just two years, SCHOLZ & NEUMEIER realized the complete planning and furnishing of numerous gastronomy kitchens, including large orders such as the complete kitchen in the Hotel Egerner Höfe by star chef Thomas Kellermann, the gastronomy Neue Siederei on the former company premises of the Dr. Schnell, the kitchen in the newly renovated Bräustüberl in Bad Tölz and the new kitchen in the Max-Emanuel-Brauerei in Munich Schwabing.
With the additional workshops, a small drywall construction team and the kitchen planning department, new jobs are also being created: Today, NEUMEIER employs more than 40 people and would like to make an important contribution to more regionality and sustainability. With this goal in mind, Martin Neumeier was able to win the machtSINN team again in 2020 as the operator of the catering trade in the company building. The regional shop offers almost exclusively products from the surrounding area and head chef Bernhard Wolf cooks different dishes every day, exclusively with ingredients from sustainable agriculture. The new bistro and the "enjoyment garden" with outdoor seating area, pavilion and fireplace that has been created for this purpose is also very popular with external guests and has meanwhile become a permanent institution for the employees of NEUMEIER.
In 2021, two NEUMEIER projects will receive the German Design Award: the Moun10 youth hostel and the Eibsee Pavilion. Other awards in recent years include Hotel Property of the Year for the Hotel Bell Rock project (2012), "Best Brand" for service as a hotel outfitter in an independent survey by AHGZ (2015), "TRAUMFIRMA Award" (in the years 2017 - 2021 ), R&B Award from Callwey Verlag for the most beautiful restaurants & bars 2021.
